Mexican Food

20090530-IMG_7339
Tried something different on the weekend, and instead of the usual asian food we get, I went with a few gaming comrades to Enchilada’s for Mexican food. If you haven’t had Mexican food, it is essentially lots of salsa, tomatoes, cheese, corn chips, flour, chilli with some sort of meat such as mince beef, steak or chicken.

This Week’s Desk

20090525-IMG_7237

As mentioned in a previous post, it’s close to exam time. So what better time to procrastinate? As with most students, most people will procrastinate the most during or before their exam time. Do you feel the same way? I have a habit of trying to organise my notes, my desk, my house, and cleanup things I have never touched for the past 12 months. It seems I get a little obsessed about preparing a clean environment to study in but not actually doing the study.

Catchup with a Friend

20090522-IMG_6970

One of our good friends, Dan visited Brisbane for the weekend and we had a lot of fun over the last few days. So much that I even forgot to study. Being close to exam time, I started thinking about my study plans but that obviously went out the window. Dan arrived on Thursday, but I was too buggered to go out and meet him since he his arrival in Brisbane was delayed until 10:30pm. The next day after work, everyone gathered at my house and we bummed around, eating, drinking and playing Guitar Hero World Tour, as well as Rock Band.

Winter Hotpot

20090519-IMG_6857

So it is approaching the end of May and we are moving into Winter.  Winter in Australia isn’t as cold as winter in some countries.  It definitely does not snow in Brisbane and no matter how chilling the wind is here, it isn’t as cold as the winter in Hong Kong or other parts of Asia.  Having said that, we were all feeling the change in weather as you could no longer walk around at night without at least a sweater, or jacket on.  So, in the spirit of winter, we had a hotpot at my friend’s new house.

Red Bull Cola x Cocaine

So this is why I was drinking so much Red Bull?  It seems we don’t have this drink in Australia, but Red Bull Cola was found to have traces of cocaine in Germany.

Miss Universe 2009

Miss Universe Japan 2009 was won by Emiri Miyasaka.  This years winner is definitely better than last year.  However, I am still disappointed.  Don’t get me wrong, she is quite quite beautiful, however, the general group of contestants were not that impressive.  There are a lot of models in Japanese fashion magazines that look really elegant and pretty, but they never seem to make it to these events.  Maybe they make enough money from modelling?

Max Brenner & Ramen

Full set of photos here

20090508-IMG_6197

Recently there has been a lot of hype about this new chocolate dessert cafe called Max Brenner. Since one our colleagues returned back from Tasmania from her Medicine school for a holiday, we decided to head down to the Gold Coast, have dinner with her and catchup at Max Brenner.

Ferrari out of Formula 1

It seems that there have been a a bunch of new decisions proposed by the FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile) with regards to Formula 1 racing.  This has not gone well with the existing teams as the majority of the new changes have not been agreed with by the constructors and teams participating.

Apple Store Robina

So the Apple Store opened at Robina Town Centre on Saturday the 9th of May.  Very surprised that there wasn’t one in Brisbane first.  Been many discussions on various Mac forums about Apple’s reason for this but I think Apple draws a crowd where ever they are regardless of location.

Annoying Songs 2

I absolutely hated this song when it first came out. Listened to this version by accident now it’s stuck in my head~!@~

This one is all thanks to Dong. Was in his car a while ago and he played this annoying Korean song. Of course it is now on my iPod like WonderGirls – Nobody.

Nice Desk Setups 4

Have been again, browsing through good office and desk setup and layouts.  As I mentioned before, I think a good setup or layout really helps and improves workflow and productivity.  For some though, it doesn’t matter too much as they can be productive in any condition.  I am not that lucky and for me to be productive I really need a good clean and tidy environment.

Not So Mighty Now!

Ok so Apple’s might mouse is not so mighty now.  I was experiencing the same thing the other mighty mouse users had with Apple’s design – the scroll wheel ended up not working.  I love this mouse because of the design and it being clean and simple.  I love it even more because Miriam bought it for me as a birthday present.  But there is this one design flaw which ultimately annoyed me so much I decided to take it apart and see if I could fix it.

Their Day

Full size pictures here

The 3rd of May was Angelique and Eric’s big day.  They sealed their dedication for one another and got married.  I was kind of in charge of the random jobs that people were not really assigned so I had to be there from the very start at 8am for the traditional chinese tea ceremony for the parents to help out.  Early day for me, but for the star couple, even earlier.
