This Months Desktop 2

13.03.2010-Workspace
This is my new addition to my workspace for the month. A small upgrade to the panel although it was an inch sacrificed for screen space. Overall I’m fairly happy as now my keyboard buttons can control the backlight of the monitor.

Apple Store Chermside

As much as I like Apple, running around in laps is beyond me. But love them or hate them, check out the crowds they attract. I wonder if the Dell Robina kiosk attracted a lineup like that as well on their launch day =P. Also, waking up that early for a store launch? Again beyond me. It’s not like it’s the 1st store like that in Sydney. The upside is that if I want to visit an Apple store, I would not have to run all the way down to Robina. On the other hand, Chermside is sometimes a bitch to get to from Southside. Damn Northside traffic!

Apple Store Robina

So the Apple Store opened at Robina Town Centre on Saturday the 9th of May.  Very surprised that there wasn’t one in Brisbane first.  Been many discussions on various Mac forums about Apple’s reason for this but I think Apple draws a crowd where ever they are regardless of location.

Nice Desk Setups 4

Have been again, browsing through good office and desk setup and layouts.  As I mentioned before, I think a good setup or layout really helps and improves workflow and productivity.  For some though, it doesn’t matter too much as they can be productive in any condition.  I am not that lucky and for me to be productive I really need a good clean and tidy environment.

Not So Mighty Now!

Ok so Apple’s might mouse is not so mighty now.  I was experiencing the same thing the other mighty mouse users had with Apple’s design – the scroll wheel ended up not working.  I love this mouse because of the design and it being clean and simple.  I love it even more because Miriam bought it for me as a birthday present.  But there is this one design flaw which ultimately annoyed me so much I decided to take it apart and see if I could fix it.

Messy Hard Drives

Ok so I decided to do a bit of tidying up on the Mac and started looking through and sorting the numerous crap I download over the last 8 months that has just been dumped into a single folder called ‘_dump’.  You then realise you download a lot even though you know other people may download even more.

iPhone 3G (… finally)

Finally, Apple has released the second version of their iPhone, 3G capable.  This is good news because being 2.5G / Edge previously really made its key feature (portability and internet) a double edged sword for Australian consumers.  Previous iPhone owners in Australia that bought overseas unlocked phones may have charged ridiculous amounts for their use of GPRS on the iPhone.  Now that the 3G version is announced, the internet speeds and pricing will improve dramatically, making it truly a mobile device that can be used for enterprise and personal.
